What is a Free Spirit?
Is it an act of remembering? Remembering ourselves as connected to all things, at ease and in the flow- allowing the passage of energy to flow through us, unperturbed by blockages caused by the conditioning and restrictions of fear? Like a plant that doesn't question how, or why it should grow- it just does. It is perhaps an act of de-educating ourselves to see the world as a child, with wonder, trust and unconditional love. An act of trusting the 'wilderness' beneath the layers of misguided convention and fear.
You are the cosmos witnessing itself
When we are born we are whole beings. In our Western culture it is predominantly the physical and mental aspects of our being that are nurtured. In part our emotional being is nurtured but our 'spiritual/energy/connection to the 'wilderness' aspect is mainly neglected or dominated by a religion which takes the power from the individual.
In ancient tribal traditions when a child is born it is nurtured as a whole being, a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being. The child therefore is raised in a balanced environment and in turn is aware of keeping this harmonious balance with others and with nature.
Why do you think these native tribes have been so abused by the modern man? Perhaps it is because we are scared. We are constantly faced with the choice between love and fear, for the modern man to embrace and unconditionally love these cultures, he would need to face the 'wilderness'. As we have become increasingly detached from this wilderness, detached from our whole self and from mother nature, the wilderness becomes a threat- as it is something that we need to face and return to.
As we remember our whole being and harmonize with nature we begin to make authentic choices and our lives become purposeful and interconnected.
Your wilderness never leaves- it is always you. There are many ways to reconnect with your wilderness, with your free spirit, through meditation, art, singing, dancing, gardening, surfing.... the wilderness is everywhere because it is you. The Creative Free Spirit Network seeks to stimulate and support the individual in reconnecting with their wilderness, to remember their free spirit, and to re-embody themselves as whole beings. To make choices based on love rather than fear.
Thank you for your wilderness
